Monday
afternoon, January 3, 2000, on the first working day of the
new millennium.The
main utility switchgear for the Mesa Regal RV Resort in Mesa,
Arizona was out of service and Sturgeon Electric needed to
replace it fast.
"When
I heard about Sturgeon Electric's problem I knew that GSI
could help," said Howard Preszler, Operations Manager
at GSI. "GSI is very competitive in both price and lead-time
for 5kV and 15kV Utility Metering Switchgear."
"Through
Tuesday, Howard and I worked together to design the new switchgear
layout that would match the existing conduit and meet the
current 5kV utility metering requirements for Salt River Project"
said Greg Russell at Sturgeon Electric. "By the end of
the day I issued a purchase order to deliver the new switchgear
on Monday morning, just 6 days away." A temporary generator
was supplying the power for the RV Resort at considerable
cost to the owner. The costs were rising every day the switchgear
was out of service. Monday morning delivery was critical.
General
Switchgear completed the submittal drawings in one day and
they were emailed to Sturgeon Electric for submission to Salt
River Project (SRP) for approval. Minor corrections were made
overnight after which SRP approved the drawings. Concurrent
with the submittals GSI fabricated the switchgear. The 5kV
Utility Metering Switchgear was completed, tested and shipped
on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday the switchgear traveled from
GSI in Santa Fe Springs, California to Mesa, Arizona. The
switchgear was at the Mesa Regal RV Resort 6:00 AM on Monday
morning, January 10, 2000, ready for installation by Sturgeon
Electric. The installation was completed the same day.
At
the completion of the project Greg Russell, Project Manager
at Sturgeon Electric sent GSI the following note; "Thank
you for all your support and help in making this a successful
replacement. We were very happy with your equipment and especially
your service. Thank you for a job well done."
